REVIEW

'Very well then, I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes'...Walt Whitman from Song Of Myself. I remind myself of this quote whenever a student I've been teaching jazz to asks me what kind of music I play. My faves are Shutter Opening/Closing, Mad Carnival, Opus Apollo and the long one. I once had Eno's Apollo album but gave it away to a punky girlfriend in 1988...I doubt she ever listened to it, and I don't think I've heard it since. But it's one of my favourite albums, because it's so pure as I remember it. Listening to the long one did make me think about pot and partially hanker for it. Amazing how the listening centre prised open by pot never really goes away, especially when it's prodded by certain music. Gee, I wonder if I could score a bag tonight!?!
